ARTIST INFO
Ben E. Hunter was born & raised in New Orleans' richest musical communities, eventually becoming a trend-setting performer at the famous Café Brasil on Frenchmen St. for over a decade prior to Katrina. Ben has performed locally and nationally for the past 20+ years, with 7 studio albums recorded in New Orleans, Jamaica, and L.A., winning several esteemed honors as a modern New Orleans' legend. After a series of traumatic personal events (including Katrina), he became compelled to share something more personally relevant through his original songwriting and acoustic style.
As a New Orleans Reggae King turned new Orleans Afro-Caribbean Folk Music Creator, Ben showcases original songs that explore the city's true culture through his lived experience. Born and raised between Tremé and the 7th Ward, music naturally pervaded Ben's life. His authentic and easy reflection on New Orleans' culture is even more vital in today's changing times. Through this work, he joins those defining artists who continue pressing New Orleans to the forefront of musical innovation.

MUSIC
New Orleans Afro-Caribbean Folk Music is a musical style that Ben created by combining his personal musical histories of reggae, New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian chants, and West African drum rhythms. He is developing this genre through a musical library of all original songs based on his experiences growing up in the Treme before and after hurricane Katrina.
